In recent weeks we have seen another spike in prices of vinyl and aluminum. We are now paying as much as 15-20% more for our supplies than last year. Vinyl siding, soffit, windows, shakes ans scallops are all affected. Steel products hace increased 18%. In response, we have seen the industry raise prices dramatically. As our profit rate is much lower than other companies, we will be raising rates as well. If you need to order vinyl windows, siding etc please try to do so before the increase August 6th 2011.

Screen Doors and Screens for windows

In recent weeks we have had so many requests to install screen doors and new sreens for windows. Here are a few things to think about when getting these items.

1.) Are the problems I ahve currently due to pets or small children? If so perhaps an upgraded screen is the answer.
2.) Is the frame a problem? We can upgrade the frames as well. We have upgrades avaialble including fiberglass.
3.) Is the wind the primary problem? If so, perhaps a bush or abstruction may help.

Q and A

Recently I ran across a checklist you can use when buying windows. So I wanted to share some questions and answers that can go along with that checklist.

Is window install included in the price? Yes, install including wrapping around wood or siding is included as needed.

Does the company use their own installers? We take it one step higher. Our installers come directly for a national manufacturer with over 70 years experience with vinyl and wood windows. The installers are paid and trained by the manufacturer to insure the highest quality installation possible, and they stand behind it. 1 yr warranty for the install and lifetime (50 years) for the windows.

Is the interior trim removed? Only if you request it. 99% of the time the home owner wants to keep the trim on the inside of the home.

Is disposal of the old windows included in the price? Yes, not only is it included, we recycle everything we can.

Can the company give you a copy of certificate of insurance? Of course, we are licensed, bonded, insured. Also we have the national lead training as required by law.

Is “night stop” included? Yes, this feature allows the home owner to open the window for ventilation without some comfort the someone will not open the window and come in the home.

Single, double, or triple pane? Double pane windows is what we specialize in. Triple pane is too heavy and does not add enough insulation to warrant the high price. Double pane with argon is four times for efficient than single pane.

Is low-e included? Yes. Low-e keeps the heat out in the summer while allowing it in in the winter. Also, keeps out furniture fading UV rays.

How long will it take to get my windows installed? Generally 2-4 weeks depending on the time of year. Generally about 2 weeks from the date the estimate is signed.

My favorite time of the year is almost over already. You know, the month or two where you dont have to pay for heat or air. We are all about to see our utility bills rise again and that leads to the busy season in the industry. Getting Aggressive

Next month there will be an industry wide increase in materials of about 7%. This is bad for us and for you. We never want to push price increases on the consumer but with our low margins already, we have to.

My point is not to scare you into buying but to motivate you to improve your home while the price is still low. As you have seen on the news, the price of everything is going up. Let’s get you those new windows, or insulated siding, or gutters or doors now. You will be happy you did it before prices went up. As you can see from my last post, we also have a big sale on windows right now. This price will NEVER be this low again.

Spring is almost here

We have seen a huge pickup in phone calls this week, most coming from referrals of past customers. We are very thankful for all your referrals and we feel it shows that we are on the right track in customer service and price.

Big sellers right now are gutters, doors and windows. As we get further into the year I want to reming you that tax credits are not all gone for the above mentioned as well as vinyl replacement windows. Although it is not $1500, you can get up to a $200 credit this year. (anything helps in this economy).
