April 22 2010, the EPA law on lead paint went into effect. That same say the law was expanded. Previously, you could opt out, now you cannot. So, as of about 60 days after April 22nd, you will not be able to opt out of the lead based pain laws.
What does this mean to you?
If your home was built before 1978, we have to test for lead paint. There is only 1 test available for testing. You can test all kinds of surfaces with it. But there is 1 problem, the test is not recommended for accuracy on walls. ???? EPA, are you serious? So, if you are doing work and connot verify if there is lead paint, you should assume that there IS. I personally have taken this course, and it is going to add about $80 per window to installs. Why do I not like this law?
1.) You cant test easily so in most cases you assume there is lead.
2.) Before you test a surface, you need to clean it. Why? You can bring in enough lead from dust from outside to make the test positive for lead, even if there is no lead.
3.) If the area has to be tested to show it was cleaned properly, it must be cleaned withing 1 hr of the job being completed. This is because, contamination from you will show excessive levels in about an hour.
4.) Plastic used to cover within 6 feet of the jobsite inside and 20 feet outside can not be reused. So, 20 FEET OF PLASTIC ON ALL SIDES OD THE HOUSE WHERE WORK IS DONE MUST BE THROW AWAY. Is this right? How much lead are we talking about. We are talking about 1 sugar packet worth of lead exceeds the safe level for a house. But outside there can be 50 times that much in the air.
5.) I am all for safety. Safety... not just money for the EPA to create fake jobs and not really help people.
Next year, they are proposing,..... All home be checked within 1 hour of cleaning a jobsite. Estimated cost to homeowner $700-3000 per job.
Thank you for your help EPA.

Grove City Takes A Big Hit
Grove City suffered from a terrible hail storm early this month that distroyed siding, roofing, and angered many residents as the quality of their homes construction came into question. It was sad to drive thru the affected areas ans see the damage to vinyl windows, vinyl siding and roofs in the area. Many residents learned about the cheap construction of their homes and many discovered little or on insulation protecting their homes.
The area was full of hundreds of contractors, many not with the BBB, and from out of state, piggybacking with local companies licenses and using local company names to get work. Be aware of who you hire.
There were, in some cases, hundreds of holes insiding on homes from the golf ball size hail that fell. If you need help with your insurance company, or they are giving you a hard time about repairs please do not hesitate to ask us for help.
You work hard for your home and you pay good money for th security of insurance, and you deserve to have your home back in the condition it was in before - or better.

New Laws Regarding Lead
As you may have heard, there are new laws going into effect April 22 that may increase the price of your windows and siding if your home was built before 1978. It is estimated that 25% of homes built between 1960-1978 will be affected. 70% of homes 1940-1960, and 90% before 1940 will be affected.
This could add up to $90 per window to the price of vinyl replacement windows and vinyl siding will also go up for affected homes.
The good news is that tax credit will help you get most or all of this back. We will keep you updated as we get more info. We are prepared for the coming changes and will continue to serve you with no lapse in service.

BBB
After over many years of service to Ohio, we have a great following and a nice referral base. We have recently been asked why we do not belong to the BBB. As you can see from their website, we never had any complaints and we did not see the need to pay them $360 a year to have our name listed. Well, we finally did it. We are now listed with the BBB. See http://centralohio.bbb.org . As you can see by the report, no complaints in the last 36 months. We hope that this helps you decide to work with us for your vinyl siding and vinyl replacement window needs. also check out Angies List. as we have a perfect rating there as well.

Government imposes new guidelines - Customer to pay more
As of April 22, 2010 if you want vinyl replacement windows, you may be paying more for them. Per new govenment guidlines, homes built before 1978 may have to be treated as hazmat zones. This means that the company such as Therma Pro has to have hasmat certification and follow certain proceedures similar to a hazardous waste spill in removing and installing your new windows. This is unfortunate in that a simple proceedure such as replacement windows, in a home where you already live has to become such a big issue. Estimates are still coming in but this will raise the price of EACH vinyl replacement window by around $90.
What effect will this have. In my opinion, you will not call a company to do the work. You may call us for the windows and do the job yourself. If you do, will the installation be done right? Wil you lose your warranty? Will you just go to the hardware store, buy an inferior window, install it yourself and see very little savings or none at all.
The bottom line is, the govenment in a way is taking back the 30% energy tax credit back, and taxing you for having an older home and wanting to do the right thing and update it. People may keep their less efficient windows.
Also, as you know, the energy bill did not pass. The president decided to make it happen anyway by giving the EPA the right to enforce the same laws that were voted down by Republicans and Demorcats. The EPA now recognizes carbon dioxide (what we breathe out) as a poison and therefore can fine us for it. I urge you to replace you windows now before these laws take effect. Take control now, get you $1500 tax credit now, finance you windows, no payments no interest for 12 months, enjoy your savings now.

Dublin area
The Dublin area seems to have many homeowners who are worried about damage to their windows, siding etc from the recent cold and snow. They are calling about replacement windows to to the place of the cheap ones put in by some builders. People have been very happy with the new vinyl windows and vinyl siding and I think we will be getting many new customer word of month about our products. We sell our product for about half our competitors for the same windows. We simply feel that a little off many custoemers is better than making a fortune from you. Remember we have the 12 months no payments/interest available as well. Looks like the BBB is inviting us to join and we will be doing that in the next few days.
Sunday, March 7, 2010
It looks like our March special has been a hit already as people are calling about the $25 installation on 3 or more vinyl replacement windows. It looks like people really felt the hit on their pocketbooks during the recent cold spell. And now with the 30% up to $1500 energy tax credit and the 12 months no payments no interest, people see how they can get cash back, save on their bills, and still enjoy no payments for 12 months.
